DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT will now be in the spring! Join us on MARCH 22 from 10 am – Noon! \nJoin us in celebration of the first weekend of spring — and a belated World Wetlands Day — to clean the coast of the magnificent Powell’s Cove Park in College Point!  \nPowell’s Cove\, an environmental waterfront park completed in 1999\, has 17 acres are submerged marshland; only 7 acres of the park are on land.  \n We’ll be working at low tide for maximum effectiveness\, and there is a LOT of trash-covered coastline that needs our help. Community Service credit available for students. \nNOTE: Meet at the 7th ave. and 130th st. entrance to the park. \nThanks to our co-sponsors: Queens Chamber of Commerce and Partnerships for Parks.

SUMMARY:Join the Trees Count Census at MacNeil Park!
DESCRIPTION:Volunteer with NYC Parks and Coastal Preservation Network for the Trees Count 2025-26 Census! You will receive a tote bag with all the materials needed to count trees. We’ll start with a 30-minute training session that includes the basics of tree identification and how to measure and assess each tree. Using our Tree Census app\, you’ll split up into different zones within the park to start counting trees! After completing your first training event\, you are welcome to continue counting trees on your own in smaller parks across the city. For your comfort and safety\, please bring water and wear closed-toe shoes to this program. Registration is required.\nMeet at 119th Street entrance to the park\, at 5th/Poppenhusen Avenue.

Volunteers will work from 9 am to Noon on Friday\, Sept. 4. Meet at the entry on 133rd place and 11th ave. Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes\, long sleeves\, long pants\, and clothing that can get dirty. Please register here!  This event has been made possible with funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture\, Forest Service. To sign up a group of 10 or more volunteers please reach out to stewardship@parks.nyc.gov.
